Our biography for use in event's programme:
"Marconi Beach Sound are a local band that play classic surf music. That description is normally met with the response “What, like the Beach Boys?” to which they reply “No, nothing like the Beach Boys, we don’t have a singer!” Classic surf music started in California in the early sixties and became the backdrop to the surfing scene. Think sun, sea, sand, hot rods and surf boards. It was the music of the beach, purely instrumental, with high energy guitars and pounding drum rhythms. It later had a resurgence when the film Pulp Fiction used many classic surf songs on the sound track. Marconi Beach Sound are a group of surf music enthusiasts who want to share their interest in the music. Since forming in 2010 they’ve recorded a couple of albums and played many venues and outdoor events. They often include a few better known instrumentals to broaden the appeal, but always stay true to their roots with many classic surf songs forming the basis of the set. As the saying goes...surf’s up!"
